potential is developed and where self-respect is restored. SHEC Center

Our Vision
To guide and educate the growing child in terms of his or her physical,
intellectual, social and emotional development. We wish to create awareness in
each child that he or she is a unique and special creation and that there is a
plan and purpose for their being in this world.
Our Aim
To provide a safe and caring environment where children have the opportunity
to grow and develop at their own pace and achieve their full potential at
each stage of their development.
Educational Philosophy and Curriculum
At SHEC Center Pre-School, the curriculum has been developed to cater
for the developmental needs and characteristics of the preschool child.
Our educational philosophy is founded upon Jean Piaget’s
Cognitive Developmental Theories of how children think and learn. In addition,
we incorporate many activities and teaching methods that are based on the Montessori
Method of teaching and the Curriculum used in the government
schools. Our teachers and class assistants are well qualified and have many
years of experience working with pre-school children.
When developing our curriculum, the following criteria were considered:
• Children experience and learn from their environment through
play.
• Children’s learning is influenced by the opportunities for play that are
provided for them.
• The child’s stage of development must be taken into consideration when
providing opportunities for play and learning.
Our Mission
To drive
essential social change aimed at solving systemic poverty and homelessness.
Through
services and partnerships that enable a journey out of poverty and homelessness
to sustainable development.
We
believe change is possible for everyone who wants to build a thriving life
and society.
Our Values
The core values of SHEC CENTER are based on principles and reflect how we engage with all stakeholders.
· Influence potential
·
Innovation
·

Early Childhood Development Programme
Skills development and job creation have been a focus of our country for many years and emphasis has been placed on skills development program SHEC Center, learnerships and internships to specifically address the skills shortage that we are experiencing. Amongst the homeless and poorest of the poor, education and skills development opportunities are fewer and they face more challenges. In many cases, the provision of skills development program SHEC Center alone will not ensure that a person reaches a stage of employment and earning a sustainable income. In most of these individuals’ lives are hidden scars of trauma, social injustices, abuse (physical, emotional and substance) and insufficient education. SHEC CENTER provides a holistic, wrap-around service to address each individual’s needs, furthering him or her on a journey towards sustainability. SHEC CENTER develops, facilitates, presents and coordinates relevant skills development and job placement services that will contribute to a sustainable intervention and exit for unskilled/unemployed community members leading to independent living.
